James Bond Aston Martin DB5
The iconic James Bond Aston Martin DB5 made its debut in the 1964 film Goldfinger, starring Sean Connery as Bond. The sleek silver vehicle caused a buzz with its sophisticated beauty and a range of tempting gadgets, including an oil spray, bulletproof shield, radar screen, revolving number plates, gun tray under the driver’s seat, tire slashers, and the famous ejector seat with a control button in the gearstick. The license plate number is BMT 216A.
In the film Thunderball (1965), Q restores the car after it is crashed in Goldfinger, and it makes another appearance in GoldenEye (1995) with Pierce Brosnan driving it to the Monte Carlo Casino. This time, the car is fitted with an Alpine 7817R car radio that doubles as a communication device and printer, as well as a champagne cooler between the seats. The license plate changes to BMT 214A.
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) features a brief appearance of the DB5 as Bond drives to the Ministry of Defence in London with the same license plate, BMT 214A, as in GoldenEye. Meanwhile, Casino Royale (2006) reveals how Bond acquired the car, winning it in a poker game in the Bahamas One & Only Club with the license plate 56526.
In SkyFall (2012), the Aston Martin DB5 is driven by Bond and M to Scotland, with the license plate BMT 216A. The scene is one of the last in the movie and is set to have taken place in 1962. Unfortunately, the car is completely destroyed by Silva at the end of the film. However, Q restores the car for Bond in SPECTRE (2015), and in No Time To Die (2020), Bond drives the restored DB5, now with added features such as machine guns behind the headlights. The car plays a significant role in the biggest action scene since Goldfinger.
The DB5 used for filming was sold at auction in 2018 to the SpyScape museum. Don’t miss your chance to see James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin DB5 and its thrilling gadget-filled adventures on the big screen.
